The EC has 2X2 seating compared to 2X3 seating in AC Chair Car (CC). The food served in EC is also different than that of CC. This train was initially a day time running non-stop Duronto Express with ICF - EOG coaches, later it was converted into a Shatabdi to cater the enroute passengers with suitable stoppages. . The train covers the distance of 500 km in 7.5 hrs. It stops at Kharagpur Jn, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
