However, Asian cuisine also does vary, especially when it comes to Japanese cuisine and Chinese cuisine. In this post, we shall look at the difference between Japanese food and Chinese food. THE DIFFERENCES IN A NUTSHELL We can break down these differences into three points: HEALTH The first difference between Japanese and Chinese food is health. As we saw earlier, Japanese foods are more nutritious and lighter compared to Chinese food. Mostly, Japanese food involves the use of fresh ingredients and doesn’t have heavy seasoning. Chinese foods, on the other hand, they are oilier, mostly because of the frying methods used. Japanese, on the contrary, they love grilling, or even serving their food when it’s in a natural state. This makes Japanese food fresher and healthier for consumption. INGREDIENTS The ingredients used in these two cuisines do vary significantly. Chinese cuisine involves the use of more meat compared to Japanese cuisine. Traditionally, Japanese cuisine relies on seafood for protein rather than meat. However, meat is becoming popular in the country, especially after its modernization. China, on the other hand, relies on meat on a variety of its cuisines. Research has revealed that there has been an increase in the demand for meat in China for the last 30 years. It is said that this demand has increased almost 4 times. COOKING TECHNIQUES Lastly, the cooking techniques used in these two cuisines also vary greatly. The Chinese cuisine used a lot of seasonings to make their food standout, and also to give it the flavor required by their culture. You shouldn’t be surprised to find a mixture of ingredients that you wouldn’t see mixed together in other meals.'
